 New patterns of behaviour require practice and repetition before they become new habits and then gradually, form into a new way of life.

Being grateful for the little things in life is an amazingly simple way to begin changing your mindset into becoming more positive.

When you are walking, travelling or just sitting in the garden or in a cafe, look around you and notice the beautiful colours everywhere. Notice how the sky looks. Observe the birds flying, listen to their song, watch children playing and having fun. Being grateful for the little things in life can help to put life’s bigger challenges into perspective.

For some people, life is one big competition.  They never stop to smell the roses and they never see rainbows anywhere.  For these people, their life is out of balance. When life is out of balance, our whole being is affected. We live with stress and don’t think clearly or make rational decisions. Our emotions become overly sensitive and we can become irritable and lacking focus.

When we live our lives in balance, then wonderful things can happen. We attract good things into our life and welcome every day with new energy.  We become truly grateful for every little thing, without even trying, and we ooze happiness.

What little things in your life are you grateful for? 

Make a list. Divide an A4 blank sheet of paper into several columns. Put headings at the top of the page such as family, health, friends, career, finance etc according to your circumstances, and then list the things you are grateful for down the page.
